Don't Let It Loose
Promoting Responsible Pet Ownership
When we first learned of this program we were thrilled to lend our support through raising awareness of its existence. Their website has tons of great information and resources.
For your convenience, we have copied content from their page "Rehoming A Pet In Your State" for the state of Nevada.
WHERE TO GET HELP IN FINDING A NEW HOME FOR YOUR PET:
It is never appropriate to release a pet to the wild. However, you may feel uncertain about how to find a new home for your pet. Here are some resources in Nevada that can help you re-home your pet.
Nevada Department of Wildlife manages the program and can provide a lot of helpful advice about pets and invasive species. Please call our main office at (775) 688-1500 and you will be directed to someone who can help.
These statewide directories provide information about many different shelters and organizations that can help you:
If you have a pet bird check with:
Nevada Bird Rescue is an all-volunteer, first-responder bird rescue service for Southern Nevada. If it has feathers, we can help through advice or by taking action when needed.
The Southern Nevada Parrot Education, Rescue & Rehoming Society is operated by volunteers who give their time and their own resources to help find loving homes for exotic companion birds in need.
The Southwest Exotic Avian Rescue is an all-volunteer organization serving Las Vegas, Nevada and the surrounding communities. Their focus is to provide safe, caring foster and permanent adoption placement to any parrot in need of re-homing.
For reptiles and amphibians that need new homes contact:
Reptile Rescue is a great resource if you need to find a new home for your pet. While their main emphasis is on reptiles, Reptile Rescue can often take other pets as well.
This Directory provides a list of reptile rescue centers across the entire state.
